All
students
are to read any grade-level appropriate chapter book for 20-30 minutes
each night, and write down the date, title, author, and pages read. On
Thursday evening, after reading, students are to write a response entry
using
the format below. The response should be based on the reading that
was completed at home.
Please
use lined notebook paper and answer one of the prompts below. Your response
should show that you spent time thinking about what you read. Although a
certain length is not required, your response should fully address the topic
chosen. The HRL is due every Friday morning.
Topic
Choices:
1. Tell about your favorite
part in the story. Were your predictions correct? Were you surprised by the
outcome? What do you predict will happen next?
2. Tell about the characters
in the story. Describe who they are, what they look like, how they feel, and
how they act. How could they affect the story?
3. Tell about the setting of
the story (when and where it happens). Would you like to visit that place?
Describe why or why not.
4. Does the story remind you
of something you have read or experienced before? Write about your connection
to the story using a lot of details.
5. Identify the genre of your
book. Explain the features that helped you decide which one it is.
Follow
this format on your lined paper:
